PROVEN SUCCESS

Bristol Interstate District | Virginia

Project Details
Collect and assess the condition of inventory covering 295 centerline miles of Interstate in the Bristol District (I-81, I-381, & I-77).

What we did
Pillar used a combination of geo-referencing 50-60 year old plan sheets, LiDAR scanning with GIS data extraction, and manual field location utilizing an iPad with our InfraTrak software to collect the GIS inventory. Assets inventoried included 1098 drop inlet catch basins, 6445 signs, 1349 guardrail terminals, 216 miles of longitudinal guardrail, 320 light poles, and 337 pavement messages. The majority of the assets were condition assessed using VDOT's Maintenance Rating Program criteria with InfraTrak.

Results
The resulting work product was utilized by VDOT in their development of work plans and budgets.
